I’ve been pretty broke recently, but I did acquire two things after a quick trip to Gifu City which I thought were worth mentioning.

Yagyuu Jubei HNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG.  For those of you who don’t know, she’s one of the main characters from Hyakka Rouran Samurai Girls, a disturbing reinterpretation of Japanese history where all samurais are high school girls.  She’s also the latest addition into the overload of imouto moe that has showed up this season.

After all the bastardizations of other countries’ food I’ve encountered ranging from pizzas to the garbage that is Mos Burger, I definitely never expected to find an authentic hamburger shop tucked in a small corner of an alley on the edge of town.

Takayama, a town known as little Kyoto, is literally in the middle of nowhere in Japan, but houses a great number of Japanese cultural treasures.  One of which is the preserved old town, which is home to about 3 blocks of buildings from the early 1800s.
